Blueyes Productions was founded in 2017 by Award Winning writer / director Balbinka Korzeniowska who has worked in the entertainment industry for over 13 years. She’s been in front and behind the camera and in 2016 received her MFA in Directing from UCLA where she was nominated for a Student Academy Award for her film, AWAKEN.
Since then her films have screened at the Palm Springs International Film Festival, the Polish Film Festival in America, the Polish Film Festival in Los Angeles, the International Social Change Film Festival and the Durban Film Festival. She is drawn towards stories of the underdogs, whether it’s focusing on her experience as a Polish immigrant or telling female led stories. Her feature film debut, PLAYING THROUGH, has won the Audience Winner at the Sarasota Film Festival, Best Female Director at the Montreal Independent Film Festival, Best Feature Film at Martha’s Vineyard African American Film Festival, the Best Director, Best Actor, Best Feature Film and the Grand Prix at the Vienna Independent Film Festival and most recently was the Audience Winner for Best Feature Film at the Naples International Film Festival.
She is currently in post production on THE INTIMACY OF WAR, a short documentary about a modern day hero who saves the lives of 17 Ukrainian refugee women and children. She is also in pre production on a docu series, THE QUEEN OF HOUSE, about Screamin’ Rachael, the first female House music record label owner and a story of sex, drugs and House music. Additionally, she’s in pre-production on her pilot DIRTY LAUNDRY, a story of two best friends who turn one of their mothers’ laundromats into a front for their escort service. Set in her hometown, Chicago.
Balbinka speaks Polish (and English!) and when not creating visual stories, she works on her master plan of rescuing all the homeless dogs. And yes, she has blue eyes.
To me, regardless of the project, filmmaking is about collaborating with the greatest humans who ultimately become your family.
